    Due to a recent retirement, Old World Wisconsin is seeking a full-time, permanent Collections and Exhibits Coordinator. The Collections and Exhibits Coordinator supports the mission of the Wisconsin Historical Society and goals of Old World Wisconsin by managing historical and educational collections to create immersive historical environments and interactive experiences. They work collaboratively with Old World Wisconsin staff and volunteers to create spaces for hands-on, interactive storytelling that inspires curiosity and fosters learning about those who left old worlds behind for a new life in Wisconsin. The Collections and Exhibits Coordinator plays a leadership role in all aspects of experience design including concept development, fundraising, research, testing, fabrication, staff and volunteer training and evaluation. They provide objects necessary to engage guests in hands-on exploration and self-guided discovery and serve as the lead worker for staff hired to create and maintain reproduction clothing and costuming used by staff and volunteers. This position ensures best practice in collections care and management by overseeing an annual calendar of historic interior exhibit installation and housekeeping.

    Salary Information

    The salary will be between $25.00 - $30.00 per hour ($52,000 - $62,400 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 04.  The civil service classification is Curator.  A 12-month probationary period will be required.

    Special Requirements:  Ability to move within and in and out of historic interiors within a wooded, rural environment, distances of .25 miles or longer in varying weather conditions

    Qualifications

    Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in all of the following:

    • Experience working with collections at a historic site, museum, or similar attraction.
    • Experience working with recreated environments in a historic house, farm, museum, or similar environment
    • Experience working as part of a team to successfully complete a collections or exhibit project.

    In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:

    • Experience leading a team to create immersive and interactive exhibits at a historic site, museum, or similar attraction.
    • Experience overseeing the care and use of collections as part of living history, interactive, or hands-on experiences for guests.
