The General Manager, Experiences and Events supports the mission of the Wisconsin Historical Society and goals of OWW by designing, delivering and evaluating a variety of experiences, programs, and events for a variety of audiences at OWW. This is a senior level management position at OWW. The person in this position serves as a member of OWW leadership team and meets regularly with the Director and others to make key strategic decisions. The General Manager oversees a team that is responsible for delivering daily guest experiences, events, educational programs, support, to further the Wisconsin Historical Society’s mission at Old World Wisconsin. The General Manager also supervises the care of historical resources – collections and research – used as the basis of experiences and events. The position is also responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of seasonal Limited Term Employee frontline team members needed to facilitate the general admission guest experience, special programs, PK-12 school programs, and signature events. This position works with the Director and others to create annual plans and operating budgets for experiences and events and is responsible for managing allotted funds. The position contributes to the raising of funds to support operating expenses through sponsorships, grants, and earned revenue.
The salary will be between $30 - $35 per hour ($62,400 to $72,800 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 81, range 03; Civil service classification is Curatorial Supervisor. A12-month probationary period will be required.
