Download Conference Program

The 2017 ALHFAM Annual Meeting will be hosted by Genesee Country Village & Museum and take place June 11-13, 2017, with two days of professional workshops and field trips on June 9 and 10.

The theme of the meeting is "Breaking Through Barriers: Living History in Modern Times," encouraging attendees to "consider how their own museum, business or program has, or will, evolve to remove barriers that may inhibit growth, creativity, access to collections and information, communication, or even survival."

The Early Bird price for full conference registration is $400 for ALHFAM members and $430 for non-members. Price includes all sessions, meals, and site visits from June 11-13, and the "Salted, Smoked, and Pickled" Reception on June 10. The nonmember rate also includes a year-long membership to ALHFAM. Workshops and field trips on June 9-10 have additional fees. The Early Bird rate is available until April 30. After that date, the prices will be $475 for members, and $505 for non-members.

One-day registrations are also available and include all sessions, meals, and site visits on that day only. The price is $150 - there is no early-bird discount on one-day registrations.

Registration will end on May 24. In-person registrations will not be accepted.

We will be staying in the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Rochester, NY. Your room is not included in the conference fee. You must call the hotel directly at 585-359-1800 to reserve your room(s). The conference rate is $109/night for a room with two double beds. Let the receptionist know when booking that you are with the ALHFAM conference to get the special rate. Note: This rate is not available online. Reservations at the hotel must be made before May 17, 2017 in order to receive the ALHFAM discount on the room price. See pages 26-27 of the program booklet for more information.

Transportation will be provided between the airport and the RIT Inn and Conference Center. If you are in need of other arrangements, try our ride-sharing board.

A Note About ALHFAM Member Rates

To receive the ALHFAM member rate, your (or your organization's) membership must be current with ALHFAM, and you need to be LOGGED ON to the website. Staff and volunteers of ALHFAM member organizations are entitled to member registration rates; however, you need to be affiliated with your organization in our database to log on and receive this pricing. Please check with your organization's administrator if you aren't sure whether you are in our database. If you don't know who your administrator is, email the webmaster.

Guest Registrations

You will be able to register any guests you wish to bring and pay for their attendance as you register.

After you complete the registration form, you will have the option of paying online via Paypal, or printing an invoice that you can submit to your organization for payment. We recommend you print a copy of your invoice (which will also be available to you if you pay online) so you have a record of what you registered for.

Refund Policy

Refunds must be submitted in writing to Melanie Diaz directly at GCV&M and cannot be accepted after April 30. An administration fee of $50 will be charged for refunds up until April 30. After that date the entire registration fee paid is forfeit.
