The Dudley Farm Museum (www.DudleyFarm.com),a small living history museum in North Guilford, Connecticut seeks to reflect agricultural life common to the area during the late 19thcentury. The mission is “To preserve, restore, and operate the farm as an historical, educational, and recreational resource, serving the general public as a museum, education center, and recreational park.” The museum has recently completed a collections assessment in preparation for developing a new Interpretation Plan for the 10 ½ acre campus. This position seeks an individual to assist with the research to more thoroughly determine the role of farming in North Guilford during the period, and the roles of the large Dudley family in North Guilford. The selected candidate will work with Museum staff, consultant, and other volunteer researchers. Opportunities for exhibit planning g will also occur, as well as use of PastPerfect software. This is an excellent opportunity to work with archival materials stored at the Museum and with Town facilities, meet other volunteers with similar interests, and learn. Training provided. Attention to detail, patience, teamwork skills, and interest in farm life and 19th century history are desirable qualities. The chosen individual must possess the ability to work independently on one's own initiative and as a teammate. Work will be conducted in the museum office, Town Hall, Public Library, and outside in t barns and sheds on the grounds. Literacy in Microsoft Office is required.
