Education Program Manager– African American History

Under general supervision the Education Program Manager for African American History conceives, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates a full range of regularly offered and engaging educational programs for families, children, school groups, general visitors, scouts, and others meeting SC and NC Standards in History for each grade level. This position supervises subordinate employees. Works weekends frequently.
Participates in living history program planning and evaluation to ensure programming aligns with the site mission and meets the needs of audiences.
Assists in planning the annual educational programming calendar for Historic Brattonsville.
Develops, oversees, and presents programs that focus on African American History that may include, but are not limited to: first-person dramatic presentation, summer and weekend programming, scout programs, birthday parties, after-school, home school, and SC standards-based school programming.
Applies best practices to program development, delivery and evaluation and strives to discover and apply new strategies and techniques to keep programming fresh and exciting, includes participation in professional conferences and development.
Develops and delivers interpretative and educational programming.
Assists with content development for marketing efforts for educational programs.
Observes, coaches, and evaluates programs, staff, and volunteers on a regular basis.
Recruits volunteers, paid performers, and contracted services for events and oversees responsibilities for the event.
Manages and assists in the development of budgets for educational programs.
Trains volunteers and interpretive staff.
