    Job Summary:   The 1900 Farm Manager plans, manages and ensures fulfillment of the daily historical programs and long range interpretation goals at the 1900 Farm, including off season enrichments and adult education programs.   The 1900 Farm manager is also responsible for the proper care and handling, safety, and inventory of Living History Farms livestock and fields museum wide, including maintaining accurate records and procedure manuals. This position oversees other 1900 farm  interpretive staff, provides supervision, training and evaluation for them. This is a full time, non-exempt position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:  College degree in history, agriculture, education, American studies or related field OR equivalent combination of education, experience and training.  Previous living history museum experience required, with 2-3 years experience in agricultural programming, required. Must have an aptitude for working with livestock, including draft horses—previous experience required. Mechanical aptitudes for making adjustments and routine repairs to machinery preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required; along with strong supervisory, management and program planning skills.  Experience working with volunteers, preferred.  Must be able to master historical information and techniques with ability to train others. Must possess enthusiasm for working with the general public, including superior customer service skills. Must excel in working with groups of children.  Ability to perform physical tasks needed to authentically re-create the activities of a 1900 Farm working household required.  Work environment requires standing for long periods of time, working in heat, cold and wet weather, and contact with livestock.  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekend days.
