    We will be meeting at the registration site, Johnson Victrola Museum, 375 S. New St., at 2:00 p.m. We will travel the short 10-minute drive to the collections facility. We encourage carpooling to the collection facility, and directions will be provided if needed.

    ALHFAM Dairy Workshop
    April 9 and 10, 2018

    Hosted by Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, IL

    Join the staff of Volkening Heritage Farm for an in depth hands on workshop on dairy cows, dairy products and dairy life. The workshop begins as 10:00am April 9th with milking and progresses until noon on April 10th. Topics discussed and practices include:

    • Hand milking for historic sites
    • Intro to mechanical milking
    • Milk handling and safety
    • Cream separation
    • Butter making
    • Cheese making
    • Cow and calf care
    • Navigating local, state, and federal dairy laws

    If you have a dairy program at your site or you would like to start one, this is the workshop for you. Cost for workshop is $60.00 per person, lunch on Monday provided. Lodging on your own.  To register or for information contact:
