ALHFAM Mission Statement Team Update - Nov, 2010
During the June board meeting, Mission Statement Team members were asked by President Henbest to discuss steps needed to create a vision statement. After some circular discussion in a breakout session, the Team determined that a vision statement would be more appropriately crafted by the board as a result of a Strategic Planning session rather than the Team, and made that recommendation when the full meeting returned to the table.
Following the Annual Meeting, Secretary Sheridan and President Henbest coordinated the specific language to accompany the ballot mailing. The ballot read:
Proposed Amendment #1:
That Section 1 (Mission Statement) of ARTICLE 3 of the Bylaws of The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums be amended to read:
Section 1: Mission Statement
The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums (ALFHAM) shares practical knowledge and skills among those who make history relevant to contemporary lives. We draw strength from our diverse network of members, sharing experience, research and passion for participatory learning.
Proposed Amendment #2:
That Section 2 (Statement of Purpose) of ARTICLE 3 of the Bylaws of The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums be deleted from the bylaws.
The membership passed the amendments.
Thanks from the Mission Statement Team: Deb Arenz, Kyle Bagnall, Katie Boardman, Carrie Fellows, Vertie Fioca, Ron Kley and Franz Klingender.
