Bruce Henbest, Past President (Term Expires June 2013)

Bruce Henbest has worked at Upper Canada Village, for about 18 years. He is currently the Supervisor of Mills, Trades and Heritage Programs. In this position, Bruce coordinates the daily intepretive program. He has a wide range of operational responsibilities and provides leadership in the development of new programs. He supervises a diverse staff including historical interpreters, trades people and educators, and is responsible for staff hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and evaluation. Bruce also organizes special events and exhibits and is responsible for the school and youth programs offered at Upper Canada Village. Recently, Bruce and his wife, Kim, co-authored a social studies textbook entitled Early Settlers. Bruce has worked for Tri-County Literacy Council, and was a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Alberta. He obtained a B.A. from the University of Alberta, and completed his M.A., Ph.D coursework, language requirements, and comprehensive exams at Carleton University in Ottawa. Bruce is a Canadian citizen, born in Edmonton, Alberta. He is married with two school-aged children; and enjoys gardening, piano, swimming and chess.
