Dear Regional Members,

As you know, next year ALHFAM will be hosting its annual meeting in Ohio and the Mid Atlantic Region will be hosting its regional meeting in Cooperstown, New York on March 8-9, 2013.

This year the regional membership voted to support four fellowships to the annual meeting and four to the regional meeting.  Unfortunately, the cost of the annual meeting exceeded the budgeted amount the membership voted for so we are only able to offer three $625 fellowships.

Please keep an eye out in the Bulletin and on the website for further information regarding applying for fellowships to the annual meeting.  Please take advantage of this offer; it is a wonderful benefit this organization provides.

If you are interested in applying for a fellowship to the regional meeting you may send your fellowship application to Gwen Miner at the Farmers Museum.  The region is providing four fellowships each for $250 to cover registration and travel and lodging expenses.  Anyone from the region may apply.  We will be awarding up to two fellowships to new member or first time attendees and up to two fellowships to members who have attended in the past but are in financial need.

To apply for the regional meeting fellowship, mail or email a copy of your application to Gwen Miner.  The application should include the following:

  • A cover letter of no more than one page stating why you wish to attend the meeting, how you intend to contribute to ALHFAM, indication of membership status (individual or through institutional), how many previous ALHFAM meetings you have attended, and an explanation of your financial need.
  •  A resume.
Applications will be rated on the following criteria:
  • Past participation in ALHFAM and/or potential for future contribution.
  • Participation in living history or related museums.
  • Rationale for attending the meeting
  • Quality and presentation of abstract
  •  Financial need

Applications must be received at least one week prior to the conference registration deadline. Applications received after that date may not be considered.  Applications will be judged by a committee of regional members and applicants will be contacted prior to the conference deadline.

Applications may be sent to:
