Goals:

• To provide a support network for practitioners of historic (heirloom) gardening.

• To promote the increased use of historically accurate plants and plantscapes in historical interpretation.

• To provide a resource list for those seeking detailed information on heirloom plants and plantscapes.

• To meet as an ALHFAM PIG and conduct pre-conference workshops or sponsor sessions at Annual and Regional ALHFAM meetings.

• To organize a network of seed savers and growers for the purpose of preserving and obtaining heirloom seeds and plants.

Methods:

• The committee disseminates its lists, guidelines, and resources via the ALHFAM web site (www.alhfam.org), electronic mail, and the ALHFAM Bulletin.

• We are compiling a resource list of research publications, sources of seeds, plants, tools, etc. for those interested in interpreting with heirloom plants. This will be posted on the ALHFAM website as soon as it is available.
